How to create an email with your own domain

In the internet world, the need for e-mail cannot be separated anymore. Email is needed from the personal to the company for various needs.

If for personal, you can easily use the free e-mail service provided by Gmail, Yahoo or Outlook.

But of course this free service is not suitable for use by companies or professional needs right?

Well for those of you who have a business website and want to have a professional email, I will describe how to create an email with your own domain.

Instead of using extensions like @gmail.com , you can make it @yourdomain.com

The Easiest Way To Make Emails With Your Own Domain

I have been using this method for several years and until now, this method is the way that I think is the easiest to use without obstacles.

Some of the things you need include:

  1. Hosting with the Cpanel panel.
  2. Domain.
  3. Email client application.

You will see the usage through the systematic steps below.

Step 1 - Add Domain

  • After purchasing hosting with Cpanel and the domain, enter Cpanel and add the domain on the Addon Domain menu.

Step 2 - Create an Email

  • Return to the Cpanel main menu, then select Email Accounts in the Email menu .
  • Click the CREATE button on the top right to create an email.

Step 3 - Select Domain

  • In the CREATE AN EMAIL ACCOUNT menu you can choose which domains you will use for e-mail.
  • Enter your email name in the Username menu , this is the front of your email before the " @ " sign .
  • Then enter the email password you want, make sure you remember or record the password.
  • Also specify Storage Space which is the capacity of email storage, here I leave it by default at 1024 MB .
  • If everything works, click the CREATE button at the bottom.

Step 4 - Install Mozilla Thunderbird

  • Now to operate email, we use a software called Mozilla Thunderbird which is an email client.
  • Download Mozilla Thunderbird then install it on your computer.

Step 5 - Setup Email

  • Open the Mozilla Thunderbird main page and select Email on the Accounts menu .
  • Then fill in the name, email and email password that we created in Cpanel in the previous step.
  • You can fill in the name as you wish, but make sure the email and password match what you made before.
  • Then click the Continue button.

Step 6 - Select the Email Protocol

  • After the steps above, wait a few moments until you are asked to choose an email protocol.
  • I myself recommend choosing the IMAP protocol because you don't need to save e-mail on the computer.
  • Then click the Done button.

Step 7 – Security Exception

  • This step is optional that you need to know if it happens, meaning you can skip this step if it doesn't occur when composing email.
  • If you see a warning like in the picture below, just click the Confirm Security Exception button.

Step 8 - Finish

  • Until the above steps the email creation process is complete.
  • You can try it by sending an email to Gmail and vice versa to find out if the email you just created is working as it should.
  • If you encounter errors such as failing to send, you can try it several times to ensure this.
  • If you don't find the email you sent to Gmail, Yahoo or another email service, try checking the spam folder.
  • You can see the email I made works well for sending and receiving emails.

To operate email you must always open the Mozilla Thunderbird application on your computer, or at least run behind the scenes.

Well, certainly not everyone can do this because of various activities. Right?

The solution is to install the email on your smartphone like the usual Gmail email you use.

All you need is the Gmail app, so you won't find any annoying ads.

Step 1 - Install the Application

  • This is certainly a must, download Gmail on the Google Play Store or Apple App Store then install.

Step 2 - Add Email

  • For existing users who already have an email in the Gmail app, tap the profile photo at the top right and tap Add another account .

Step 3 - Set up Email

  • You will be taken to the email setup page.
  • Select Other at the bottom.

Step 4 - Add Email

  • Enter the email address that you created earlier then click Next .

Step 5 - Select Protocol

  • In accordance with the previous step, I used the IMAP email protocol.
  • Tap on the Personal (IMAP) option .

Step 6 - Fill in the Password

  • Fill in the password form with the password that you created earlier.
  • Make sure you fill it correctly, then tap the NEXT button .

Step 7 - Incoming server settings

  • On this menu you just click the NEXT button again.
  • Wait a few moments for the installation process.

Error: If you get a Certificate not valid message as shown below, tap Advanced then scroll down and tap PROCEED ANYWAY .

Step 8 – Outgoing server settings

  • In this section you also only need to tap the NEXT button .
  • Do the same thing if you get a Certificate not valid message .

Step 9 – Account options

  • Here you can adjust the synchronization frequency of emails and others.
  • Choose according to your needs then click NEXT .

Step 10 - Finish

  • Click NEXT at the last step and email with your own domain is ready to use via smartphone.
  • Although it is not certain, some of the errors I experienced above are probably due to problems with the hosting that I use.
  • If in doubt, it would be better if you ask the hosting party if the hosting they sell is compatible with this method before buying.

Closing

Now that's the easiest way to make email with your own domain in my opinion.

If there are obstacles or parts of the steps above that you don't understand, please leave your question in the comments column. Hopefully this method can be useful for you.

Cheers!
